This model is a near-scale model of the colliery hutch carriers that were used on the "Campbeltown and Machrihanish light railway". The model is unusual in that it contains five models in one.
In Practice the Colliery hutches were loaded on to the back of the carriers and taken to the processing plant. This was done to reduce the man-handling of the coal and to increase efficiency.
The colliery hutches can be run on their own, on 32mm gauge track, or on the back of the wagon.
The model contains a wealth of detail in the castings for both the wagon body and the chassis. Each of the hutches contains a coal load and adds weight to the completed model. Full aesthetic brake gear is provided for the chassis, and the model includes spoke wheels and couplings. All kits have a straightforward assembly with detailed instructions, written using a step by step format with accompanying build photos.
